A) Educational Qualification

Mechanical Junior Engineer Posts: Three-year Diploma in one of the following engineering disciplines in Mechanical or Electrical or Electronics or Manufacturing or Mechatronics or Industrial Machining or Instrumentation and Control or Tools and Machining or Tools and Die Making or Automobile or Production Engineering. A combination of any sub-stream of the basic streams of the prescribed disciplines is also accepted from a recognized University/Institute.
Signal & Telecommunication Junior Engineer Posts: Three-year Diploma in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Information Technology or Communication Engineering or Computer Science and Engineering or Computer Science. A combination of any sub-stream of the basic streams of the listed disciplines is also accepted from a recognized University/Institute.
Depot Material Superintendent: Three Years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution. Higher qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech are also acceptable in lieu of a three-year Diploma in Engineering in the same discipline.
B) Age Limit
The age of the candidate will be calculated as on 1 January 2027. The prescribed age group is 18 to 33 years.

If a candidate is eligible for age relaxation on more than one ground, only the maximum applicable relaxation will be provided; the relaxations are not cumulative. SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies are not entitled to category-based age relaxation.
RRB JE Selection Process 2026
The RRB JE/DMS selection process is conducted in multiple stages. Candidates first appear in CBT-I, which is a screening examination. Shortlisted candidates then appear in CBT-II. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CBT-II are called for Document Verification, followed by the prescribed Medical Examination.

The RRB will shortlist candidates for CBT-II based on normalized CBT-I marks. The number of candidates shortlisted for CBT-II will ordinarily be 15 times the community-wise total vacancies notified against the concerned RRB, according to merit. The Railways reserve the right to increase or decrease this limit where required.
For Document Verification, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of CBT-II marks, merit and options. The number shortlisted for DV will be equal to the number of vacancies. Candidates must produce their original certificates during Document Verification.
RRB JE CBT-I Exam Pattern
CBT-I is common for all notified posts under CEN No. 04/2026. It is a screening examination consisting of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The normal examination duration is 90 minutes, while eligible candidates using a scribe receive 120 minutes.

There is negative marking of one-third of the marks allotted for each question for every wrong answer. The minimum percentage for eligibility is 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL, 30% for SC and 25% for ST. The notification provides a possible two-mark relaxation for PwBD candidates where there is a shortage of PwBD candidates against reserved vacancies.
RRB JE CBT-II Exam Pattern
CBT-II contains 150 objective-type questions and carries 150 marks. The normal duration is 120 minutes, while candidates eligible for a scribe receive 160 minutes. The examination contains common subjects as well as technical abilities related to the candidate’s exam group.
